Walter B. Roberts, Jr., is a professor of counselor education at Minnesota State University, Mankato. He has over 25 years of experience as a public school teacher, school counselor, licensed professional counselor in private practice, and faculty member in higher education. His primary research has been in the area of violence reduction in school settings. He has consulted across the United States with teachers, administrators, mental health professionals, parents, and communities that are concerned about “growing their own” best strategies for dealing with bullying among children and adolescents. Dr. Roberts is a frequent source on the topic for media across North America and has been a consultant with investigative news reports revealing the depths of bullying behaviors on unsupervised playgrounds in Midwestern American schools. A tireless advocate for children, he testifies regularly before local, state, and national legislative bodies in support of policies and laws that will increase school safety.
